Ozone (O3) is a very effective disinfection agent and can be used in swimming pools to replace chlorine and bromine containing disinfection chemicals. The advantage of the use of ozone compared to the other swimming pool treatment agents is the fact that the swimming environment will increase dramatically. The use of ozone prevents the formation of chlorine or bromine containing byproducts, like chloramines and trihalomethanes. Ozone will even breakdown already formed unwanted chlorinated byproducts. This will reduce problems with red eyes and respiration problems. Ozone will give a sparklier and clearer bathing water.

The water in public swimming pools contains microorganisms and unwanted substances, which come from the skin and excretion products of swimmers. Swimmers cause many pollutants to enter the pool water, such as bacteria from saliva, excretion products, pollution from swimwear, skin tissue, sebum, sweat, nose and throat saliva, hairs, cosmetics and ammonia (NH3). Aiming for clean swimming pool water through constant refreshment is often too expensive. Also, this does not solve the problem of pollutants that remain on swimming pool walls. The water is recycled, causing pollutant and pathogen concentrations to increase. Microorganisms will multiply and this increases the risks of contagious diseases.

Disadvantages of using Chlorine

Swimming pool water contains dissolved pollutants, such as urine and sweat and other excretion products of swimmers. Sweat and urine largely consist of water, ammonia and urea. The components of sweat and urine are not harmful for human health. However, when these products react with disinfectants in the water, such as chlorine, unwanted reaction products can be formed which consist mainly of chloramines. Chloramines are all respiratory irritants with trichloramine being the most toxic (order of toxicity: monochloramine < dichloramine < trichloramine-most severe.) When using chlorine, DBPs (Disinfectant By-Products) are formed. THMs like chloroform are carcinogenic in nature and since it is a volatile compound, there are chances that it might be inhaled by the swimmers in the pool. Exposure to low concentrations of chloroform causes renal and liver defects. Also chlorine is ineffective against many bacteria, viruses and parasitic protozoa.

Benefits of Using Ozone:
1) Purification
2) No Chemical Buildup
3) Clean and Appealing Water
4) Constant Shocking Of Pool
5) Increased Filter Efficiencies

Key Benefits :

• Ozone is 2000 times more effective than chlorine in disinfection

• Ozone in water kills bacteria, molds, fungus, spores and viruses

• The residual Ozone concentration of 0.03ppm – 0.05ppm in the pool for maintaining disinfection level is no harmful to eyes, skin and hair

• Ozone eliminates chloramines

• Ozone won’t irritate eyes, dry skin, or fade swim wear

• Ozone destroys oils, solids, lotions and other contaminants in the water

• Reduce traditional chemical (chlorine/bromine) use 60%-90%

• Eliminate red, irritated eyes, dry & itchy skin

• Eliminate costly replacement of faded swimwear

System Advantages :

• Automatic operation – Inbuilt timer

• No need for any refill or cylinders required

• Very low power consumption

• Built in Oxygen generator -Selected models

• Low capital investment
